In order to prevent infections in the oral cavity, it is necessary to maintain a satisfactory daily oral hygiene routine. Having proper brushing techniques from a small age is important for preventing caries development on baby and permanent teeth. We recommend using a soft- bristled toothbrush to prevent damage to soft tissue around teeth (gums).
Properly brushing teeth is considered using a toothbrush and toothpaste for 3 to 5 minutes in circular motions to remove plaque and soft tooth deposits.
Mouthwashes additionally help in preventing bacterial plaque formation in the oral cavity. We recommend our patients with crowns, bridges or implants to use mouthwashes together with a WaterPik, which using pressure rinses out remnant food debris around such prosthetic restorations, and prolong the longevity of the restoration.
